This two-hour seminar is designed for persons planning to start a business, or who have recently started a small business, but who have not yet set up an effective record keeping system. The seminar is a basic hands-on introduction to QuickBooks, the popular automated business record keeping system. Note that this is an introduction to QuickBooks, i.e., not designed for the experienced QuickBooks user.

The next "First Saturday Book Club" will meet on October 2nd at 11:00am. We will be discussing "The Postmistress" by Sarah Blake. This book tells the story of three women during World War II - two new residents of Franklin, Massachusetts and one radio correspondent, who traveled Europe. It is a highly recommended historical novel.

Come join us for a lively discussion of Empire Falls by Richard Russo on Sat., August 7th at 10:00am. This Pulitzer prizewinning book is about a small Maine town that is in decline and the quirky characters that live there.
Adult Summer Reading Club
"Water Your Mind: Read" is the theme of this year's Adult Summer Reading Club.
Registration for the Summer Reading Program has begun and you can report your books on June 12th. To register, sign up at the Reference Desk. You only need to read 6 books by July 31.
All who read and report on 6 books will be invited to a final party with rewards for all!
We’ll be offering a variety of programs and giveaways all summer, so pick up a list of events and drop in as often as possible.

Join us at New River Library on Feb. 9th at 2:00pm as we explore: why you would want to know how to navigate the Internet, places you can go to learn how to use a computer, and many of the wonderful services and programs that will be at the end of your fingertips once you learn to use a computer to navigate the Internet.

The KnitWits knitting club meets twice a month at 10:30 am. Beginners are welcome. Please bring a set of medium knitting needles (size 8) and a skein of yarn. Registration is not required.

Wednesdays at 1:30pm - Antique Rug Hooking Club
Have you ever wanted to learn how to hook rugs? Antique rug hooking is a craft that is centuries old. You can learn by coming to our weekly Hook Rug Club. Beginners are welcome. This club meets every Wednesday from 2:00pm- 5:00pm. Also, there is now a colorful display of hooked rugs in the New River Library display case.
Nov. - Beginner Computer Classes
Do you have a friend or family member who would like to learn how to use a computer? New River Library provides beginner classes to introduce people to using computers and the internet. This set of classes is designed to help people to get over their fear of computers and to start surfing the internet and communicating with friends and family through email. Classes are at 10:00 am on Friday mornings. Registration is required for the classes. Please call (813)788-6375 to register.
